I’m sure you’ve heard about the opening of Hameediyah Nasi Kandar, Penang famous nasi kandar, in Kota Damansara if you live around the area. That place is almost always crowded since its opening. Hameediyah latest branch is at Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara.
Hameediyah claims to be the oldest nasi kandar establishment in Malaysia. The very first Hameediyah Nasi Kandar was established in 1907 at Lebuh Campbell, Penang. That’s more than 100 years ago. Way, way before the independence of Malaya! If you don’t know already, nasi kandar is a popular northern Malaysian dish, which originates from Penang. Based on Hameediyah’s claim, are they the ones who created the nasi kandar?
Looking at the menu, there are not many difference in terms of what they has to offer here. But the amount of dishes available for nasi kandar is quite limited if I were to compare this new restaurant in Kota Damansara with their Penang restaurant.
The dishes come out slow and customers are required to wait for quite some time before their turn is up. The kitchen couldn’t keep up with the steam of people coming into the restaurant.
The food is good. Price is quite similar to any other nasi kandar restaurant in town. I hope the service will improve as they have a potential to be very successful here.
