Citarasa Seafood Market Steamboat @ NSK Trade City – Kuchai Lama

September 1, 2014 by Apple Foodees Leave a Comment

Of all the steamboat restaurants in the Klang Valley, Citarasa Seafood Market Steamboat is probably the only one which adopts the market concept whereby customers are given the choice to choose their ingredients before the ingredients are sent to their respective tables. Yes, the ingredients itself and not the ones you choose on printed menus. How cool is that?

There was already a line when we arrived at the restaurant but we were quickly given a table as there were only the four of us. We took our table cards and went straight to the center where all the fresh ingredients are. We took a short tour around before we start to shop for our ingredients.

Almost all the ingredients are nicely packed with sling wraps and neatly arranged on the racks. There have the usual ingredients like fishballs, meatballs, vegetables, prawns and etc. and also premium ingredients like grouper fish of different species; imported fresh lobsters and crabs.

The price are displayed on the item itself allowing customers to do a quick calculation on how much they wish to spent their meals on. Ingredients are replenished constantly and this allows customers get all the choices they want. This, I think is a very good concept as customers who come later are also given the chance to enjoy clean and fresh ingredients unlike those at buffet steamboat restaurants.

Once we have chosen our ingredients, we move to the check out counter. At the checkout counter, all ingredients scanned and thereafter sent to our table.

Citarasa also cooks some of your ingredients and we opted to have our grouper fish steamed with soya sauce.

Steamed Grouper

Overall, we had a very satisfying meal and our bill comes up to about RM160++ for the four of us. The price is almost equivalent to the price of a steamboat buffet in Kepong but if I were to choose, I would definitely choose Citarasa. The reason is simple, their ingredients are better and fresh.
