What is AppleFoodees?
AppleFoodees is a Malaysian Food and Travel food blog which shares the good and not so good food from eateries in Malaysia. Occasionally, it shares travel experiences and App reviews as well. This blog is suitable for those of you who would like to know what a particular eatery has to offer and what kind of food they serve without you spending a single cent. This is the place where I get to share my experiences and recommend the good eateries around us.

My Story
Hello! My name is Shereen and I’m from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Malaysia is a multi-etnic and multi-religious country in Southeast Asia and is famous for its varied local as well as international food. Being a Malaysian, I’m always surrounded with many good food. There are so many good food that I’ve decided to write and share it here at AppleFoodees.com.
I still work a 9 to 5 job but during my free time, mostly after work and during the weekends, I’ll go for food hunting with my husband, where both of us carry our own respective cameras to take pictures of the food we eat and thereafter writes about them.
MyMakanTV was created by Vkeong and I to bring you video contents as we notice that the trend is shifting towards video now. Support us by liking our new FB page and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Disclaimer: I’ve personally tried all the food I publish at AppleFoodees and they are all reviews based on my very own experience. So if your experience differs from mine, it may be due to factors such as the change in chefs and etc.

Why Food Blogging?
I am an introvert and I used to play games – spending too much time to get experience and to level up – all for nothing but wasted time and energy. But games are very addictive. Writing this blog indirectly force me to stop this bad habit.
I have the sense of duty to update my food blog and in doing so, I need to get out there, meet people and look for good food. Knowing that some of the businesses pick up after I’ve written and reviewed here is very rewarding for me. At least, my time spent writing this food blog helps people, both the restaurants and customers.
Start A Food Blog
You do not need to know programming in order to start a food blog. It does help if you have knowledge in programming, but it is perfectly okay.
You see:
There are many tools available out there to start a food blog. Even though I was a software engineer, I hardly do any programming. All I did was testing electrical products only. I go to the internet to look for answers and I created AppleFoodees from nothing.
This is how my very first food blog looks like. I used this theme for many years before I decided that it was time to change the look of my blog.
I then changed to a free WordPress theme, the Codium Extend theme in 2011. I apologise for the small images (I obtained them from the cache in Google) as I did not do a screen grab on my website before I changed to my latest theme.
As you can see, there are too many words above the fold and it doesn’t look appealing. As there is a change in the search engine algorithms recently, I’ve decided that it’s time to invest in a better framework for my website. I’m currently using Studiopress’s Genesis Framework with a Third Party Theme – Foodie Pro. I’ll do a review on this soon.
If you are interested in starting your very own food blog, whether it be a recipe food blog or a food review blog, you should start one right now. It is actually very simple to start a blog. And it only takes about 10 minutes to start one.
If you have any doubt, just e-mail me.

Good day to you Shereen,
I am Karmun. I would like to invite you for a food tasting section in the newly opened softcreme (soft serve ice cream) parlor. We offer 2 main softcreme categories to our beloved customers — Hokkaido softcreme (lavender, black sesame and uji match) & low fat frozen yogurt made with real fruits. We are anti-artificial coloring and hence you might find our softcreme all stained with lovely color but not too vivid, however, they definitely look cute.
Besides, our kiosk also features Belgium Waffle served together with local delight/ softcreme/ savory combination.
Moreover, we are glad to have you step into our workstation to bring the lens for a closer look of how our best seller strawberry frozen yogurt & blackcurrant frozen yogurt are produced!
We would love to hear from you. Have a nice weekend ahead !
Best regards,
Karmun

Hi Shereen,
We are representing our client, Tencent Mobility Limited (same guys who developed WeChat) who will be launching a new food application in Malaysia – IPICK.
We are running a User Generated Campaign aimed at collecting restaurant reviews by engaging food bloggers to submit their previously written reviews (do not have to re-visit the restaurant again). These reviews will be uploaded onto the mobile application in order to provide feedback to users who are looking to discover new restaurants.
Submitted reviews should be based on the targeted list of restaurants provided by the client. Once we can arrange a meeting so that I can show you the list of restaurants (unfortunately, I am unable to email the list out) and you can pick the restaurants you would like to submit. This will be based on first come, first served. By submitting 20 reviews that you have written already you can earn up to RM1200.
Alternatively you can recommend other restaurants that you would like to submit and we can check with our client for approval to include it in.
If you are interested, please hit me back with an email or contact me at 018 3160927.
KInd regards
Eva

Dear Shareen,
I am Wen Hann, the Business Development Manager from YTL – Lot 10 Hutong.
It gives me great pleasure as a fan of your blog to invite you to a lunch hosted by our Group Managing Director Tan Sri (Dr) Francis Yeoh with food prepared by his favourite “Dai Chao” chef at our new restaurant Wong Wok at Lot 10 Hutong.
Chef Wong was raised in the tradition of a Sitiawan matriarch’s kitchen, he learned to cook from his grandmother and mother. Watching them from a bamboo baby chair, then as their young ‘masak-masak’ undercook, he graduated to earn his own place as an expert in hearty Chinese cuisine. Having been apprenticed to the giants of Malaysian tai chow, Yoke Woo Hin, Kam Lun Tai, Sek Yuen, Chef Wong continues in the heritage of old school classical cooking. This is an iron wok chef at his best.
We do look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the event.
Please do not hesitate to call me @+6016-3292612 or my colleague Mr. Julian Loh (Global Lot 10 Marketing Director) @ +6012-3922981
