Take Eat Easy at Menjalara, Kepong

August 30, 2015 by Apple Foodees 1 Comment

The power of the social media cannot be ignored. I saw a picture of a drink in a light bulb on Facebook.
And that was it. I must go and see what is it all about. I found out that these bulb drinks are served in this newly opened restaurant called Take Eat Easy.

A drink in a light bulb? What do I mean?

These drinks.

And these.

I know what you are thinking. What about the carcinogen? Is it safe?

The truth is, these drinks are not served in a bulb or used bulb. These are custom made containers in a shape of a bulb. Unlike normal bulbs, these “bulb” containers can stand on its own. As for the cap, it does look like the ones we normally see on real bulbs.

There is a variety of squeeze juices which you can choose from the list of 13. These fruit juices are given awesome names and the Fat Killer – Pineapple, Cucumber, Lemongrass and Lemon caught my eye. The one in the red “bulb” container is the A.B.C.D. – Apple, Banana, Carrot and Dragon Fruit. These fruit juices are quite the deal. There were made with real fruits and is a great energy booster.

Take Eat Easy is located at the ground floor of Wisma Fiamma. We were greeted by this purple alien wearing an overall jeans.

If you look more to the right, you will notice that there is a short description of Take Eat Easy pastry chef consultant, Frederic Oger.

Apparently, he was a head pastry chef for 2-Michelin Chef Michael Caines in the UK. He had worked as an executive pastry chef for various 5-star and luxury hotels in France, UK, Maldives and Middle East.

Lucky us, we met him while he was arranging his beautifully decorated pastries.

Take Eat Easy is a bakery cum cafe. We were greeted with arrays of good looking bread, cakes and etc.

These are just some of the bread available here.

Take Eat Easy is probably one of the gorgeous looking cafes around the Klang Valley. This cafe is beautifully decorated with nice cushy cushions and each table is lighted up with these beautiful lamps.

There are quite a number of seats available here but insufficient. All tables were filled with hungry customers even on a Wednesday morning (the day we went there). We were told that the night queue is even longer. Anyone who comes after 9.00pm would have to come back another day as it is unlikely you would get any seats. Besides, they close at 10.30pm.

If you notice by now, you should know that jeans are used as a theme for their cafe. The menu itself is made of jeans material. Even jeans are used as backdrops for the food photographs.

Menu

There is a variety of breakfast on the menu. Easy Breakfast, Happy Breakfast and Mighty Breakfast – just to name some. Since we love to try everything they have, the best is to order the Mighty Breakfast at RM26.80++.

This Mighty Breakfast comes with omelette, chicken mushrooms sausages – which by the way is awesome, turkey or beef bacon, sauteed mushrooms, baked beans, cherry tomatoes, hash brown and salad with bread. The portion is quite big and it is good for sharing.

Since sandwiches weren’t available that day, we opted for the Smoked Salmon Rocket Salad @ RM16.50++. It comes with arugula, smoked salmon, hard boiled egg, olives, capers and a generous amount of colourful salads with balsamic dressing.

This is an example of a healthy breakfast. Lots of greens and low in calories.

Since the pastry chef, Frederic Oger had worked for a 2-Michelin star chef, we ordered some pastries from the bakery. We ordered the Red Velvet Cake with Chocolate for RM9.00 and a Black Forest Slice for RM8.50. The pastries were generally good. You’ve got to try it to know it.

In case you were wondering, coffees are available here too. They were reasonably priced too.

Here are some of pages of the menu. As you can see, the prices are generally quite alright for the kind of food, service and ambience you would get here. Overall, we were quite pleased with everything and would definitely recommend this place to others.
