Loke Yun Chicken Rice specialises in authentic Hainanese steamed chicken rice. They have crystal chickens, corn fed chickens, poached chickens, roasted chickens, chicken innards and etc.
Loke Yun chicken rice in Ampang has been around for more than 30 years and its recipe is in fact passed down from the current owner’s father who had a shop at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee since 1971. That’s about 45 years old recipe.
No matter how good the chicken and the rice are, it will not be complete without the complementing sauces. Every chili and ginger sauces are kept in glass or ceramic containers to maintain the standard and quality of the sauces.
If you take a look at the chicken served here. It may look like normal steamed chicken with bones intact but in fact, it is not. The bones were already removed when this half corn fed chicken was served on our table. The skill involved in removing the bones with its skin still intact is simply amazing.
It is no wonder people are still flocking to this place even after so many years. Loke Yun Chicken Rice has definitely lived up to its high standard that its founder, Mr. Pang Gui had passed on to the current generation.
