Greyhound Cafe Malaysia is a franchise of Thailand’s Greyhound Café, a fashion business expanded to a food business which has been around since the 90s. Greyhound Café quickly became famous when it opened its first fashion café at the Emporium Shopping Complex in Bangkok. It was quoted by The Fortune magazine to be “the hottest seats in Bangkok”.
Greyhound Café has since opened many branches throughout Thailand. Only the ones in Hong Kong, China and now Malaysia are opened via franchising. They are best known for Thai food but you can also find some other Asian fusion food and European food such as burgers and pasta as well.
Since we just had our lunch at Lot 10 Hutong that afternoon, we ordered some desserts. There are so many amazing desserts properly displayed in their dessert menu complete with photographs of each item. So many that we had a hard time choosing one. And so, we ordered the Parfait Banana Chocolate @ RM18.00.
If you love chocolate, you will be happy to know that they are very generous with the amount of chocolate in this parfait banana chocolate. It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and top with some chocolate brownies, slices of banana and cream dusted with chocolate powder.
We also ordered the Fresh Coconut Crepe Cake @ RM22.00 a slice. Just like its name implies, you could taste the freshness of the coconut in this coconut crepe cake. It was refreshing, very light and very creamy. It wasn’t overly sweet. It was just nice. But RM22.00 a slice is quite pricey compare to the normal standard cafe in Kuala Lumpur.
For drinks, we ordered the Thai Tea Granita @ RM16.00. Taste wise, it was a pretty standard Thai tea but in a form of a granita, a semi-frozen Thai tea made from sugar, water and Thai tea.
Greyhound Cafe Malaysia is beautifully decorated and is definitely an “Instagramable place” for Instagrammers. Will the franchise in Malaysia do well or better than the one in Thailand? Price wise, it is definitely on the high side. Food wise, it was alright. I don’t know. What say you?
