I have been going around trying Wanton Mee recently. I’ve tried the ones in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and even Bentong, Pahang just recently. And I can say that none of them are better than the one I had in Rawang.
When I was younger, I used to have my wanton mee fix at this particular stall in Rawang which I fancy really much. My only regret is that there are no longer there as that area is now replaced with some new housing projects and I don’t know Where the stall had shifted to. Anyway, we wanted to try Hooi Kee’s Wanton Mee at Yuen Kee kopitiam, but unfortunately, everything were sold out. We reached Bentong around 10.30am and even by then, they had nothing left. Not knowing where else to go, we went to a nearby wanton mee shop.
The wanton noodle here comes in either the dry version or the soup version.
Both the dry and the soup version tastes alright. No alkalline taste detected unlike the ones we had in Hong Kong. The noodles are springy.
If you are planning to go to Bentong for the famous wanton mee, go earlier. Otherwise, you’ll end up like us, going all the way there but didn’t get to try it. Anyhow, we didn’t feel upset or anything as how much better can one wanton mee be? We had an enjoyable trip.
