Shinchon Korean BBQ Restaurant is currently running a buffet promotion. RM39+ for adult and kids above 110cm, RM20+. Kids below 110cm, on the other hand, eat free. This Korean BBQ Restaurant has been around since last year and has recently celebrated its one year anniversary.
Ingredients play a very important part when it comes to buffet and Shinchon delivers for me.
Here’s why:
Unlike any other buffet restaurants (including those that charges premium prices) Shinchon provides relatively huge prawns considering the price that they are charging. Even though the prawns are frozen ones, they are considered fresh. I can vouch for it as I have a serious allegic reaction whenever I have prawns that are not fresh.
Just look at the size of this squid. It is bigger than the size of my palm. It can get very rubbery if it is overcooked. So watch this squid carefully when you are barbecuing it. Ours got burned a little hence it taste kinda funky.
The size of the clams is huge too. The best part is that all these clams are properly cleaned. No sands and grits detected at all. Just place a few of these clams above the burning flame and watch them open. Once the clam opens, it is ready to be eaten.
For a person who doesn’t like kimchi at all, I cannot believe that I am going to state this. This kimchi stew is one of my favourite dish of the night. It was sweet, spicy and a little sour. The combination of the flavour really works for me. I’ve had many other kimchis before and I didn’t quite like them all as they were very sour. But Shinchon’s kimchi stew is not overly sour – good stuff.
In case you are wondering whether banchan is included in the buffet, the answer is yes. There is a free flow of banchan and salad. Plain water is chargeable though.
I find the decor in this Korean restaurant odd. This particular drawing looks as if two masked men dancing on water under the moonlight. I wonder what is the meaning of this drawing and what has it got to do with a barbecue restaurant.
Shinchon BBQ Restaurant is located the same row as Silver Spoon and is beside Kanna Curry House at Bandar Menjalara.
