Folks staying around Kepong, read up! There’s a new Thai restaurant that has just opened at Plaza Manjalara. It’s called Senthai & Mookata – Thai Style Noodle and BBQ. You won’t be able to spot this restaurant front the front as it is located at the other side of the Plaza Manjalara.
Opened by a Malaysian and his Thai wife, together they came out with a variety of authentic Thai food. They specializes in Thai food, in particular, noodles and Thai bbq.
We ordered the Pad Thai Gung for RM13.90. Every good pad Thai should have the fragrant slightly charred taste. And Senthai & Mookata delivers it. There’s no need for any adjustment of taste necessary but if you like your pad thai spicy or sweeter, feel free to adjust it with the spices given. The one we ordered comes with prawns. You may also order pad Thai without prawns which costs lesser.
The Grilled Pork Neck with Sticky Rice @ RM15.90 is one of the recommended dish here. The pork neck is simply delicious. It is fat and meat ratio is just right making the pock neck juicy and tender.The sticky rice is a little dry but is good as it combines very well with the sauce and juicy pork neck.
The taste of Koay Teow Nam Tok @ RM12.90 is so aunthentic that it reminds me of the time I was in Thailand. If you love the ridiculously small portions of boat noodles where the more you order the more expensive it gets, then this will be a good substitute to it. And the best part of it is that it costs a fraction of the costs of what you would have paid in any boat noodle restaurants.
Tub Tim Krob @ RM10.00 is good but it would be better if they’d given us some jack fruit. I was expecting to get some, I didn’t get any. This is the problem of getting to used to the this dessert that you immediately know what’s missing when you don’t get what you expect to get.
The price of Thai Milk Tea in Iceberg @ RM11.50 may sound ridiculous to you but if you want good Thai milk tea, then this is it. Fruit juices at Take Eat Easy and Starbuck Coffee is also around that price what…. Good stuffs cost more. The milk tea is rich in flavour and smooth. You may also order the milk tea where they put the ice in it, but the taste will be diluted by the ice.
Overall, we are very impressed with Senthai & Mookata and would definitely be back to try their BBQ here.
