Do you know where to find a good pot of seafood vermicelli in Kuala Lumpur?
Nothing that I’ve tried so far in KL, including the one in Thai Garden Village, that is as delicious as the as the famous seafood vermicelli at Khlong San, Bangkok.
No fancy ingredients required to make a good seafood vermicelli. Just fresh seafood and a good broth are sufficient and Jay Piek at Khlong San, Bangkok showed us just that.
We initially wanted to try the one next to Jay Piek, the one with the long queue but it was close when we went there that evening. So we had to settle with Jay Piek. Jay Piek didn’t let us down and we had good pots of goong (shrimp) and pu (crab) ob woon sen (with vermicelle, baked in a small pan).
Here are the price list. It costs about RM30 to RM40 for a pot of seafood vermicelli. The prices are reasonable considering the amount and the freshness of the seafood given.
The waiting time is not long either. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Bins are given on the side to allow you to discard the shells easily without messing the whole table.
In case you are wondering whether there are any other things you can do around here, there is none. We literally spent 1 hour looking for the famous seafood vermicelli (the one with the queue) just to find that the place is close. So, come here only if you are interested to find one of the best seafood vermicelli. Otherwise, skip this place altogether and go some place else.
