If you are looking for premium seafood noodles in Kepong, there is one premium seafood noodles stall at Restoran Keng Nam Hai. Restoran Keng Nam Hai is located at same location as the old Restoran Xin Hin Long. A quick search on the internet reveals that there is another Restoran Keng Nam Hai in Jalan Ipoh. So, I’m not sure whether the same restaurant in Jalan Ipoh has moved to Kepong or this is a separate and distinct restaurant.
Seafood Noodles with Hennessy / Chinese Rice Wine
Anyway, back to the seafood noodles. There are only 3 items on the menu. You may choose either:-
- Chinese Rice Wine La La Noodle (Bihun) @ RM10.00;
- Hennessy Seafood Noodle (Bihun) @ RM15.00; or
- Dry Kicap Home Made Noodles.
Unlike other seafood noodles stalls around town, the ingredients are fixed by the cook. The seafood given in each bowl of noodles may change depending on the availability of the ingredients. I learned this from the picture they show in front of their stall.
Our Seafood Noodle with Hennessy wine came with prawn, la la, cuttlefish and scallops. You can’t see the scallops here because we realised that it came with not one but two scallops which they had placed under the bihun.
My first impression on these two bowl of noodles is that they tasted expensive. You can clearly taste the wine in them which is not overpowering to the extent that cover up the sweetness of the seafood but just right. It actually elevated the common seafood noodles.
If you plan to come here to try these premium noodles, make sure you come earlier as their noodles are quite popular here. For your information, the famous Abang Black Nasi Lemak also operates in this restaurant.
