Nam Chau White Coffee has just opened a new branch at Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara? Nam Chau White Coffee Kopitiam is quite well known in Ipoh, Perak for its white coffee, dry curry noodles and soft-boiled eggs on bread / telur goyang.
There are two versions of curry noodles here – the Dry Curry Noodle @ RM12.90 and the Curry Soup Noodle @ RM12.90. Unlike the normal KL dry curry noodle whereby the noodles are mixed with soy sauce and black sauce served with a bowl of curry kuah, Nam Chau White Coffee’s version dry curry noodles are noodles mixed with thicker curry kuah.
It is savory. It is spicy. If you like your curry noodles a little sour, you may also add some lime to it.
They also have Ipoh’s favourite Chicken Hor Fun with Clear Soup @ RM9.90. You see the orangy liquid on top of this chicken hor fun? That’s the secret to a good chicken hor fun, prawn broth. Looks good and it taste great, similar to the ones you can get in Ipoh.
There are many sandwich toast and traditional toast at Nam Chau. The recommended ones are their Eggs in a Holet @ RM6.90 and Kaya Butter Traditional Toast @ RM4.50 and Soft Boiled Egg on Toast (Telur Goyang) @ RM5.50.
Unlike other kopitiam around, Nam Chau serves the toasted bread and its spread (kaya and butter) separately. This allows you to spread any amount of kaya and butter onto your bread to your liking. The thing that I like about their bread is that it is crusty.
Eggs in a Holet is basically toasted bread with a hole in the middle whereby a soft-boiled egg is placed in the middle and with a ham sandwiched in between two pieces of bread. Crusty bread with soft-boiled egg and ham, a perfect combination for breakfast.
The Telur Goyang only differs with the eggs in a holet in terms of its presentation and also it doesn’t have any ham in it. Try shaking it when you order this. It looks quite funny shaking it continuously. If it doesn’t “goyang” then its not done correctly.
Overall, we are quite happy with our meal here. For those of you who are wondering whether this place is halal or pork free or not, please take note that this is a non-halal place as they serve pork here.
