There are not many good satay stalls in Kuala Lumpur. After checking the internet, we came across Kasim Satay at Pasar Sentul and decided to check this place out. There was already a long queue when we arrived at Pasar Sentul at about 7.30pm. Our first impression is that, Kasim Satay seems to be the best satay in Sentul as many don’t seem to mind the long queuing time.
There were about 10 people queueing ahead of us. One party even ordered a total of 200 satay for his kenduri. No wonder the waiting time was so long. Only one person was in charge of barbecuing all the satay. We could see him going back and forth to check the orders and the satay, making sure that each satay is cooked perfectly and each orders are done correctly. It is difficult to keep up with the many orders if not with the help from his family.
The other members of the family helped out with the order, packing and payment. There are no seating areas around. Not even a restaurant nearby as the stall is located right in front of the Sentul market. So every order is a takeaway – unless you are willing to stand and eat there. There are 5 types of satay which you could choose from; chicken, beef, lamb, kerang and perut. Each of which costs about RM0.80 per stick.
As usual, we ordered the chicken, beef and lamb satay. The beef satay stands out from the others. It was slightly charred but tender and flavourful. I highly recommended the beef satay if you take beef. Overall, we were quite happy with our satay. Even though the owner has to cope with the huge orders, he still delivers.
