I had my supper at Jogoya Japanese Restaurant, Starhill many moons ago. I didn’t blog about this place because I wasn’t too pleased with my experience at Jogoya. Our night started with a long queue, so long that it almost felt as if we were waiting to get our ICs done. But no, we were queueing to pay before we were allowed to enter the restaurant. Yes, I know that we have to pay first before dining, but the problem here is that, they opened the payment counter exactly at the time the buffet is suppose to start. For your information, the supper session starts at 9.30pm and ends at 12.00pm. We queued for almost 40 minutes before we were allowed to enter the restaurant.
And after going through the payment, we were shocked to find that there are more queues in the restaurant itself. There were queues at every single counter.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, we dropped every single clips we had on our favourite food. Sashimis are available at the sashimi counter. Here you can find all sorts of sashimis, i.e. salmons, oysters, cods, butter fish, baby octopus, and etc…
The sashimis were quite fresh. The only problem we have was that the queue for it was way too long. And to add to our frustration, we even had difficulties finding clean plates.
There are also cooked food, prepared by chefs. The situation here is better as each trays were quickly replenished to cater for their hungry customers.
Here, you may also order abalone provided that you hold the VIP card for Jogoya. I was told by the staff that only those who holds the VIP card will be able to order the more expensive food.
Unlike Tenji, at least here, the coconut drinks are available at all times. As we were only given so little time, we didn’t even manage to enjoy our desserts. If you have the same problems like we had, I would advise you to just go for their Haagen Daaz or their Baskin Robbins ice creams.
To sum things up, I will provide some tips on how to enjoy yourself better at Jogoya.
Tip 1: Book your table 1 week ahead, if possible go during their promotions.
Tip 2: Arrive early and queue earlier to pay for your table.
Tip 3: The moment you are inside, take a look around and make sure you know your way around the restaurant.
Tip 4: Ask the waiter/waitress to start the fire for your soup.
Tip 5: Place the clips on all your favourite food.
Tip 6: Grab a plate and start walking around to get your sashimis or other cooked-food.
Tip 7: Don’t over-stuffed yourself and save some space and time to enjoy their desserts.

Wow, I’m amazed the crowds are fast and furious at that hour! I guess sleep after the buffet is out of the question!

Yes, too many people rushing to pay and rushing to take the food. It is not worth it at all.

Seems like they are feeding an army. The only difference here is that we need to pay for our food.

Nowadays, buffet style restaurant is mushrooming….
Buffet is just nice to try as we always try to eat more than the price we pay for it.
