Hokkaido Ramen Santouka at Tokyo Street, Pavillion Kuala Lumpur

July 4, 2012 by Apple Foodees 1 Comment

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a non-halal Japanese restaurant which specialises in Japanese ramen (noodles). I never known that Santouka exist until I came across it when I was looking through the food guide + voucher book, Worthy Book. Since Santouka is featured in it and we get to use the vouchers, we decided to head over to Pavillion for some ramen.

Tokusen Toroniku Premium Pork

There are a variety of flavours available here and Santouka’s signature ramen is their Premium Pork Cheek – Tokusen Toroniku Ramen. Priced at RM36.00 for a regular size, this premium pork cheek ramen is sold in very limited quantity per day. Limited quantity means better quality, I suppose. It is basically, roasted 200 to 300 grams of pork cheeks. The pork cheeks were tender and slightly fat, very enjoyable topping for the ramen. Simply delicious. It comes in 3 different types of flavours, either shio (salt), shoyu (soy sauce) or miso (soy bean paste) flavour.

Shio Ramen - Salt Ramen

Santouka’s Shio Ramen with bamboo shoot, jelly ears and cha-su. Santouka’s Cha-shu is made from a certain part of pork back ribs where the meat and fatty portions are well balanced. My ramen tasted really good at the begining, but towards the end, it gets really salty. My advice, ask for less salt because you can always add more later. A regular size of Santouka’s Shio Ramen is priced at RM 25.00 a bowl.

Worthy Book vouchers

Worthy Book vouchers

To use our two vouchers from Worthy Book, we are required to order two regular size ramens (1 ramen per voucher). Out of the five vouchers available, we ordered Santouka’s Mini Toroniku – which comes in 3 pieces and Chicken Karaage – worth RM10 a plate.

Chicken Kaarage Fried Chicken

The Mini Toroniku are the same with the Tokusen Toroniku Ramen, but in smaller portion. As for the Chicken Karaage, it was really tender, juicy and really yummy. Of all things we ordered, I enjoyed Santouka’s Chicken Kaarage the most.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

To find this restaurant, head over to the 6th Floor of Pavillion and walk towards Tokyo Street. The restaurant is located very close to Daisho, a popular Japanese cash and carry shop.

I completely agree! Their Japanese fried chicken were one of the best ones in town!! Its more worth it to get their set meals than to order just the ramen.
