Tuck Cheong Dim Sum was our first and only choice for breakfast that day. However, as we were there after 9.00am, there were nothing left of us to try, except for some siu mais and buns. So we looked into our GPS device and found Chun Kee, a Hakka Mee stall located at Jalan Sayor. It is located just a few meters from Tuck Cheong Dim Sum, so we took a short walk over to Chun Kee. When we arrive at Chun Kee, there were a whole lot of people waiting. Some were ordering take-aways and some were waiting for their hakka mee to be served. Seeing this, we thought to ourselves, this could be a good find.
However, our expectation falls short. After waiting for 30 minutes, we find ourselves served with some dry, lumpy noodles. The minced meat portion was too little. It was simply insufficient to mix with the noodles. The only way to enjoy this hakka mee is to put more pepper and to have it with some green chillies.
The wanton soup was alright but it can be better if the soup wasn’t too salty. A reduction in the amount of MSG would be good too.
Overall, I think that Chun Kee’s Hakka Mee is okay and it does not warrant good reviews. A small bowl of hakka mee here would cost you RM4.20, RM4.60 for a medium and RM5.00 for a large bowl.
