Dolly Dim Sum is a pork free dim sum restaurant. Their menu encompasses all of the traditional dim sum dishes that you know and love. Classic dim sum such as “Har Gao” prawn dumpling, tender chicken and prawn “Siew Mai” and freshly baked flaky egg tarts are among the special items they have here. For Dolly Dim Sum, making dim sum is an art form where each piece is delicate and exquisite, much like a “dolly”.
This is my second time to Dolly Dim Sum. I went to the one at Avenue K the first time after finding out that all the dim sum restaurants that we intended to go had either finished or closed for that morning.
We had the (clockwise) Dolly Mozza Roll @ RM11.90 – beancurd skin rolls stuffed with prawn and melted mozzarella, “Siew Mai” Dumpling @ RM9.80 – tender chicken and prawn “siew mai” steamed with mushroom, “Har Gao” Dumpling @ RM10.50 – classic prawn “har gao” dumpling and Yam Croquette @ RM8.90 – filled with diced flavoured meat, mushrooms and peas.
The price at Dolly Dim Sum is definitely very much higher than any normal Chinese dim sum restaurant – almost double the amount. Taste wise, it is quite alright considering the fact that this place is a pork free restaurant.
After checking out their Dolly Dim Sum’s facebook page, it seems that there is a lot of complain on the way they charge for a pot of tea. If there are 2 cups for 2 people, the charge is double. If there are 3 cups for 3 people, the charge is triple. In order to avoid any confusion, remember to check with the waiter / waitress how they charge before you order any tea.
