Dim Sum is very popular in Hong Kong. It is so popular that almost everywhere you go in Hong Kong you will see a dim sum shop. Dim Sum is also very popular in Ipoh. There are a few shops which are competing to be the best dim sum shop in this old town in Ipoh. One of them is Foh San, a small shop which has bloomed into a giant shop catering many customers from morning till night. In Kepong on the other hand, dim sum is not very popular. It may be due to the fact that the price for each basket is getting more and more expensive. Most opt to buy a bowl of noodles or a packet of nasi lemak, instead of baskets and baskets of dim sum.
Jinjang is not very far away from Kepong. We were introduced by a friend to try out the one and only one dim sum shop here. The unique thing about this place is that, they do not have a name for their shop. We asked the shop owner, and she told us that they mostly do local businesses. Others who came from other places usually came because they were recommended by their loyal customers.
We found that this humble shop does serve good dim sums. The normal stuffs like paus, fried prawn dumplings, steamed pork dumplings are some of the many variety of dim sums they have over here. The dim sums arer usually prepared upon order in order to maintain its taste and quality.
We couldn’t find the place at first because the dim sum shop didn’t have a name and therefore do not have a signboard. So if you are looking for this place, head over to Jinjang. Look for the police station and go straight until you see the shop next to this Indian shop.
