Chinese-Indian Rice – Sin Hiap Kee Restaurant, Pudu

Sin Hiap Kee Restaurant is known for their Chinese-Indian rice – a mixed rice stall similar to a nasi kandar restaurant. Curry chicken, curry fish and mutton curry are just some of the curry dishes they have to offer here.

We all know that nasi kandars are not cheap right? The food here is not cheap as well. The curry fish head is the most popular item here and there are two different type with each differs in the kind of fish, either mackerel or red snapper.

We did not order the fish head but overhead that a whole red snapper curry fish head is priced at RM75.00 a plate. It is much worth it if you come in big group but if you are like us, only two persons, you may settle with mackerel instead.

This curry squid is priced at RM18.00 for one piece. Even though the curry was good, for the kind of price we had to pay, its just not worth it.

The chili lala @ RM9.00 was the cheapest and the best tasting dish of the all the dishes we had that afternoon. The lala was fresh and if you can take spicy food, you’ll definitely love this.

The curry dishes are available from 12pm onwards everyday, except Sundays. Sin Hiap Kee Restaurant’s Chinese-Indian mixed rice is popular among the locals and even before 12am, people are already sitting around waiting for them to open their stall.

By the time they are open, all the “kiasuness” of the people can be seen clearly when people started queuing and jumping queues. One guy almost dropped his whole plate of food into the curry kuah as he was too anxious in getting all the good food onto his plate.

This was our bill for that afternoon lunch which includes 2 drinks and rice. RM9 for chili lala, RM18 for curry squid, RM14 for mackerel fish, RM9 for mutton curry and RM5 for papadum and rice.
