Burger and Lobster, the London born fast growing premium fast food restaurant has just opened its first Asia branch in Malaysia and they are located at Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands. Burger and Lobster’s story began when four school friends in Moscow came together with the idea to start a business by perfecting the craft of just one or two main ingredients.
They believe in focusing and doing one or two thing good, the rest will fall into place. Unlike many restaurants, they concentrate on perfecting two main ingredients and as you would have guessed, burgers and lobsters.
For lobsters, you can choose to have it still in its shell (either steamed or grilled) or to have the lobster flesh peeled for you, in a lobster roll. The lobster they use here are wild live Canadian lobsters (the ones with really huge claws). All dishes – burgers, lobsters and lobster rolls come served with chips and salad.
Burger and Lobster – Lobsters
The lobsters that they use here are fresh Canadian lobsters. The lobsters are literally still alive and still swimming before they are brought to the kitchen to be cleaned and cooked. It is quite amazing and somewhat extraordinary seeing so many huge claw lobsters in Malaysia. If you do not know this already, the Sabah lobsters do not have claws like the Canadian lobsters. There are 9 huge display tanks stacked on top one another with each houses different sizes of Canadian lobsters right in front of the restaurant.
Since the lobsters are really fresh lobsters, the best way to enjoy this premium ingredient is to either steam or grill it. You may choose either to cook it with clarified butter or B&L’s famous lemon and garlic butter style.
The above is The Original – Steamed and below is The Original – Grilled @ RM138.00 (Genting Member:M) / RM153.00 (Non-Member:NM). Each lobster weights on average about 700 grams. It was savory and buttery. It goes very well with the lemon and garlic butter sauce.
The Chilli Lobster @ RM158.00 (M)/RM173.00 (NM) is only available in Malaysia. It comes served with signature buttered brioche. The chilli lobster was not spicy. It was just right and you can taste the freshness of the lobster in every bite.
As for the Big Boys, there is no fixed price to it and the price depends on the market price.
Burger and Lobster – Burgers
We had the B&L Burger which comes with a 168grams of beef patty topped with lobster, the combination of the best of both worlds. The beef patty was cooked medium and it was really juicy making the whole experience an unforgettable one. If you can stomach a bigger version of this B&L Burger, you may order The Original Burger which comes with a 224 grams of beef patty. All their burgers are 100% beef sourced from Australia with beef bacons, cheese, lettuce, tomato, house made pickles and onions topped with B&L’s secret sauce in their custom baked sesame seed brioche buns.
Burger and Lobster – Lobster Roll
All the lobster rolls are served chilled in their signature toasted brioche roll. It comes either with their signature chili sauce, Japanese mayonnaise or with their seven spices sauce. We had The Original Lobster Roll @ RM138.00 (M)/RM153.00 (NM). It tasted quite similar to The Original Wild Live Lobster but in a brioche.
As for drinks, there are plenty of signature cocktails and other beverages in the menu. This is the Time Keeper @ RM21.00 (M)/RM24.00 (NM). It comes in a plastic bag to make it easier for you to have it while dining here and to takeaway afterwards.
The restaurant is properly set up like a nice casual restaurant. Gone are the days where you have to dress up in suits and tie or dress just for a meal of lobsters. Here, just wear whatever you have on. There is no dress code to dine at Burger and Lobster.
