Bubu Grill Seafood Restaurant @ Kepong

March 5, 2017 by Apple Foodees Leave a Comment

Bubu Grill Seafood Restaurant is a new restaurant that had just opened in Menjalara, Kepong recently. They specialise in fresh grilled seafood. From crabs to prawns to sea fishes, you name it, they have it. This of course subject to the stock they have.

You see the boat at the side of Bubu Grill Seafood Restaurant? That is where they place all the fresh stocks they have for the day. All prices are displayed clearly to allow customers to choose their seafood.

As the cockles were fresh that evening, we decided to order the boiled cockles. The cockles were huge and meaty. They were a little “bloody” as they were partially cooked but it tasted great. The combination of these fresh meaty cockles together with the peanut chili and lime sauce was spot on.

We also ordered the Clams with Ginger and Wine which were grilled on a pan. This dish was light and you could taste the freshness of the clams.

Our Grilled Stingray was grilled with sambal chili and was served with raw Indian onions with lime and winged beans. I didn’t quite like the stingray because it was a little slimy but the sambal chili was very good.

Squids were good as well. We picked only one squid, but look at the amount after it is cooked. One squid is enough for sharing between 3 to 4 persons. The squid was fresh and was cooked just right. No rubbery texture detected at all.

Lastly, we had the Charcoal Grilled Big Head Prawn. This big head prawn was filled with roes. The best way to enjoy it is by removing its flesh and dip it into the roe (treat it like a sauce) and chili.

Here is Bubu Grill Seafood menu for your reference. Again, all seafood are based on the weight and the daily price of the day. The price may be slightly on the higher side, but hey, they are really fresh. It is not easy to find fresh seafood in the Klang Valley and I know that there are many who do not mind the price for the kind of quality of seafood they get. After all, why work so hard and eat lousy food, right?

Another thing worth mentioning here is their Crabs. We didn’t get to try any that evening but Bubu Grill Seafood seriously got some really stocks of crabs. Huge may not be the right word to use here, they were enormous. Price is however on the high side @ RM100/kg.
