Bali Holidays – Bebek Bengil, Bali Restaurant in Ubud, Bali

Recently, we decided to spend some time in Bali for a short vacation. We started doing some research on the internet and found that there are many Bali holidays packages or Bali vacation packages. Bali is the largest tourist destination in Indonesia. Bali is an island and province of Indonesia. Bali is known for its volcanic mountain. The highest is Mount Agung (still active) which stands 3,031m and is known as the “mother mountain”.

Our tour driver for the whole 4 days of our trip was Mr. Gede Sukamara, an enthusiastic, honest and friendly man who is eager and proud to show tourists his birthplace, Bali. Overall, our trip was fantastic as he knows some of the short cuts around Bali Island and some of the best places to eat in Bali. He is just amazing.

We stopped at Bebek Bengil also known as Dirty Duck in English in Ubud. You must be wondering, what do you mean by Dirty Duck? Is the duck dirty or what? No the duck is not dirty.

You see, the founder of Bebek Bengil came out with the name Bebek Bengil when he was having a meal next to the padi field. A duck somehow got on his table and because the duck is dirty, he called it a dirty duck. So this is how the name Bebek Bengil was first created, the original crispy duck since 1990.

Bebek Bengil serves Balinese food with its signature dish, the crispy duck for IDR 125,000.00 which is roughly converted to about USD$10 . It is a must order on the menu. The duck, like its name is very crispy. It is so crispy that you can actually eat it together with its bones.

We also ordered their Nasi Campur Bali for IDR 75,000.00 ~ USD 6.00. Both dishes are equally good. The food comes with a variety of bumbu or sauces. Each sauces are customize to suit different people’s taste buds. If you like spicy food, they have a spicier sauce. If you like sweet sauce, they also have it.

What amazes me about this establishment is that it looks like just any other shops around Ubud, Bali town – it looks small from the front of the restaurant. But once we were lead inside the restaurant, we were very surprise that the Bebek Bengil is huge! Take a look at some of the pictures I have taken around the Bebek Bengil restaurant in Ubud, Bali.

We were quite lucky that when we were there, the padi fields are still green. It was a great scenery for us to enjoy with when we were having our meal there.

Bebek Bengil is located very close to Monkey Forest in Ubud, Bali. If you are visiting Ubud, Bali for holiday, you should include Bebek Bengil as one of your itinerary in your Bali vacation package.
