Baan26 Thai Restaurant @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

October 17, 2016 by Apple Foodees Leave a Comment

Baan26 Thai Restaurant is the only Thai restaurant in Changkat Bukit Bintang. There are many more Thai restaurants at Jalan Alor (which is about 200 meters away), but this seems to be the one to go if you wish to have good authentic Thai food.

Baan26 Thai Restaurant had been nominated many times as one of the best Thai restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Since it is located at Changkat Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, we have the impression that the food serve here is going to be expensive.

So, when Groupon had a promotion for Baan26, we immediately bought it. Click here if you are interested to look at the offer in Groupon.

Baan26 Thai Restaurant is also featured in the Entertainer App. So, if you have the Entertainer App, you can Buy 1 main menu item and get another main menu item for free. You cannot mix the groupon promo and the entertainer app though.

Our Groupon deal comes with a 3-course meal for 2 people for RM32 instead of RM73.20 and it comprise of the followings:-
– 4x Crispy yam and vegetable spring roll (RM12 value)
– 1x Thai basil leaf minced chicken (RM25 value)
– 2x Spicy tom yam chicken soup (RM20 value)
– 2x Steamed fragrant rice (RM5.80 value)

As this is our first time here and just a few days after our trip in Bangkok where we had a lot of Thai foods, Baan26 surprises us. Their food is actually quite good. Their tom yum is comparable to the authentic ones we had in Bangkok. In fact, I think that it is even better than some of the tom yum we had in Bangkok.

Our crispy yam and vegetable spring roll was quite quite. It was cripsy. It was flavourful.

Basil-Leaves-Chicken

This is our second time having this Thai basil leaves with minced chicken. When I compare this to the one we had at Senthai & Mookata, this is much better. It is packed with flavours. The combination of the basil leaves, the chicken stock and chili is spot on.

Tom-Yum-Chicken

We were quite surprised when our tom yum chicken arrived at our table. It came in two small bowls whereby the portions were already divided in equal portions. Each bowl came with some slices of chicken and mushrooms. The star of our meal is this tom yum chicken. This is one of the best tom yum chicken in town. If you can only order 1 thing here, order this. It is worth every cent.

Mango-Sticky-Rice

Our deal also came with a mango sticky rice. It was good, but it will be better if our mango is sweet. But I’m not complaining here because there is nothing much you can do if the mango is not sweet enough.
