Ah Fa Roast Fish is relatively quite new but they had already expanded their operation from a small roadside eatery to a shop lot just across the street. If you love spicy food, Ah Fa Roast Fish is the place for you to go to test yourself the spiciness level you could tolerate.
We ordered the Roast Fish and Prawn Set @ RM99.00 which comes with Soong fish head, clams, squid and two halved river prawns. We also added some extra ingredients – lala and tofu. This portion is large enough for 4 persons. You may change to other types of fish with additional costs.
Our food was served on a portable stove and as you probably know, the longer you boil (chili and seafood) the spicier and tastier it gets. There are 6 spiciness levels here – A to F, with A being non-spicy and F being super duper spicy. Don’t be fooled by the menu which shows that B is only one chili, C is two chilis, and so forth. Level B is actually quite spicy and most customers are recommended to try the roast fish with the spiciness level of B.
For our second order, we asked for spiciness level of B-. And this time, we only ordered the Soong whole fish. There is a lot of different between our first and second order. The roast fish and prawn set was better. This is probably due to the chilis and the prawns which made the soup a lot tastier and spicier. So if you are trying for the first time and is able to tolerate with spicy food, I would recommend you to order the roast fish and prawn with the spiciness level of B. If you are afraid that B may be too spicy for you, then you may order B- and add extra chilis later on.
Here is the menu for Ah Fa Roast Fish for your reference.
Even though Ah Fa Roast Fish is getting more and more popular these days, their staffs were quite friendly. Service was good. The food was served at a decent pace. We had an enjoyable time there. Again, if you are not to keen on sitting on the road side, you may head over to their restaurant, located just across the street.
