Kantok at Phuket Island
Thai food is one of my favourite food as I love the spicyness and the sourness of Thai dishes. There is no place better to go than to Thailand to truly enjoy the best of Thai food. Recently, we went to Phuket Island for a short vacation. After researching the place for Thai food, we came across Kantok, which is located at Burasari resort. This restaurant is highly recommended by tourists on Trip Advisor.
We were there for dinner quite early as we are catching the 6.15pm bus to Phuket Fantasea. In fact, we were their first customer for the evening. Without wasting much time, we ordered the appetizer, large enough for sharing for two. The appetizer comes with chicken satay, popiah, pandan chicken and other condiments coupled with some sauces to complement the dish. The portion is quite small though.
We also ordered the fish wrapped in banana leaves. We were expecting a whole fish of seabass, but instead of getting a whole fish, we were only served with a slice of the seabass fish. Even though the portion is quite small, but I enjoyed it very much. The seabass was seasoned very well and it goes very well with the sweet, spicy and sour sauce. The seabass was very fresh too.
For dessert, we ordered the mango sticky rice, one of the very popular dessert in Thai cuisine. The sweetness of the mango coupled with the sticky rice and the coconut milk, made this a heavenly dish. I highly recommend you to order this dish if you have not tried this Thai dessert.
There are many seafood restaurants in Phuket. If you are looking for seafood restaurants, remember to bargain for the lower price. But if you are looking for Thai cuisine restaurant and are looking for a restaurant with beautiful ambiance, I would recommend you to try Kantok. Just don’t expect to get authentic Thai cuisines as most Thai cuisines in Phuket has been adjusted to cater to tourists.
