Yin Her (Silver River) at Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh

Posted by Apple Foodees On January - 4 - 2012

Happy New Year everybody! In 3 weeks time, we are going to have another big celebration, the Chinese New Year. So have you planned where to go for your Chinese New Year dinner? If you are looking for affordable restaurant to go and don’t mind travelling, do try Yin Her (Silver River) at Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh.

Crabs are one of my favourite seafood. After trying so many different cooking styles for crabs, we were quite comfortable with baked crabs. So we ordered Yin Her’s Salted Egg Baked Crabs. Although the crabs looks tiny here, they are in fact very meaty. It was the star dish for that night.

Butter Flakes Fried Prawns was absolutely amazing. It was buttery and sweet. The prawns were very fresh. It’s shells came off easily without much effort in peeling it.

Marmite Marinated Pork Ribs is one dish I would like to learn how to cook. This dish looks simple enough to cook but I’m sure it takes more practices to make this dish perfect. Yin Her does it just right. The sauce was thick and sweet.

One of the more popular dish here, is Yin Her’s Red Tilapia steamed in Nyonya style. As we had tried the Nyonya style before, this time, we ordered their Red Tilapia steamed in Bean Sauce. If I were to compare both styles, I prefer the Nyonya style – spicy and sour. The bean sauce style is just average, probably because I’ve tried this style far too many times in different restaurants.

“Sang Har” Mee at Pan Heong, Batu Caves

Posted by Apple Foodees On September - 25 - 2011

Thousands throng Batu Caves to pay homage to Lord Subramaniam during Thaipusam. But at other times, the word “Batu Caves” doesn’t even come to our mind when we are looking for good food. Our recent find brings us to Pan Heong, a Chinese restaurant which cooks really good Big Prawn Mee (Sang Har Mee).

Pan Heong restaurant was very crowded when we arrived. After a short wait, we managed to get a table. Without hesitation, we ordered their “Sang Har” cooked with “hor fun”. They also have another type of noodle; i.e. “yee mee”.

Big Prawn Mee

Big Prawn Mee doesn’t come cheap. In fact, we were told that the minimum order is for 2 pax at RM40. That is RM20 per person.

Lucky Dessert at Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara

Posted by Apple Foodees On August - 31 - 2011

I will be going to Hong Kong during the Raya holidays. Desserts are very popular in Hong Kong and Lucky Dessert is one of the dessert house that we had planned to visit. After knowing that Lucky Dessert had a branch in Sunway Giza Mall, we decided to make our way to Kota Damansara to try them out first. Lucky Dessert is currently having promotion meals priced at RM16.80 for 2 pax or RM8.90 for 1 person.

As we wanted to try more, we ordered our desserts ala carte. We ordered the Banana Krisp priced at RM12.00. It was crispy on the outside but soft inside. I expected this dessert to be sweet but it wasn’t. So if you like it sweeter, you may sweeted it up with the aising sugar which were carefully sprinkled on the plate so if you like it sweeter. I find this dessert pretty as it has some “snowy effect”.

Mango Roll has two small slices priced at RM6.00. Quite expensive if you ask me.

Trinity Durian Delight priced at RM10.00 is one of my favourite. This dessert is nice to be taken on a hot day. It is sweet but slightly bitter due to the bitterish taste from the durian and it is best taken cold. I would recommend you this if you are a durian lover.

Durian Wrapz was slightly bitter too. If it was sweeter, I would have like it better. I find it too bitter for it to be a dessert. Desserts are suppose to be sweet, right?
