B Lui Seafood @ Kepong Baru

Posted by Apple Foodees On July - 31 - 2012

There are many of choices of seafood restaurants around the Klang Valley but I have not came across any which operates in a hawker stall except for the one I am going to share with you here. There is one hawker stall just right behind the dessert place, Kei Tak Sek in Kepong which serves really good crab dishes. I heard a lot about this particular stall named B Lui but it was not until last week that I have a chance in trying them out. Looking through the many pictures pasted in front of their stall, we could see that B Lui was featured in 8TV’s food programme, Ho Chiak and was even visited by several Malaysia and Hong Kong celebrities.

After dining at several seafood restaurants around the Klang Valley, we came to the conclusion that the best way to enjoy crabs is to have it baked. So without deliberating further, we ordered the Crab baked with salt and cooking wine.

Even though we were dining in a hawker stall, the crab doesn’t comes cheap. Our crab weight 1.2kg for RM120. You may think that the price is ridiculuos, but the crab was actually imported from Australia. Just look at the size of the claw.

If clams are your favourite, you must try B Lui’s Chili and Shrimps Hot Plate Clams @ RM25. They are the best you can get. It was really flavouful, it was fresh, it was just delicious.

Squids cooked with salted eggs didn’t really shine that night but it was very good too. I just love the crunch, salted egg coat on the outside of the squids.

Pinang Lanta Seafood Steamboat Restaurant at Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On March - 12 - 2012

Last week was a very hectic week. The weather wasn’t very good too. It rained so heavily that many parts of Kuala Lumpur were flooded. Since it was a rainy season, again, we found ourselves hunting for steamboat restaurants. So we were to Pinang Lanta Seafood Restaurant. Pinang Lanta Seafood Restaurant is not only a normal seafood restaurant, but here they also serves steamboat.

The ingredients served here are quite different from the other steamboat restaurants in Kepong. I suppose the suppliers that they use are not the same as the rest. Compared to their neighbour Happy City, Penang Lanta Seafood Restaurant seafood ingredients are fresh, but not the freshest that you can find here. It was nevertheless good enough.

There are a number of choices of soup base. Looking through the menu, we decided to go with something different from the common plain chicken stock soup, the Garoupa and Yam Soup for RM16.90. There are many pieces of garoupa fish fleshes which we didn’t expect at all. For only Rm16.90 a person for garoupa base soup, this is one of the best soup bases I find in a steamboat restaurant.

Klasik Satay Station Restaurant at Taman Kepong Indah

Posted by Apple Foodees On March - 4 - 2012

While looking through my Facebook wall the other day, I realize that Klasik Satay had just moved from Restaurant O’din to their very own shop, Klasik Satay Station in Taman Kepong Indah. As we didn’t have any plans we decided to go to Klasik Satay Station that very evening. If you do not know Kepong very well, just take the road towards FRIM from Kepong. The roads around FRIM are filled with Klasik Satay’s banner, so we didn’t have any trouble arriving at their new restaurant.

Klasik Satays

Klasik Satay’s satay didn’t change much. It remains among the better satays around Kepong. However, if I were to compare between the mutton satay, beef satay and chicken satay, the mutton satay is the better satay among the other two. The mutton satay is priced at RM1.20 per stick, beef satay at RM1 per stick and chicken satay at RM0.70 per stick.

Malaysia Nasi Lemak

Unlike their previous stall, here Klasik Satay’s menu here is more extensive. Nasi Lemak, Jawa Mee and Laksa Mee are some of the new items they have on their menu satays alone are not enough to make a complete dinner. Their nasi lemak’s version is the spicy type and is priced at RM1.00 per packet.
