Okuchi Japanese Restaurant at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara

Posted by Apple Foodees On October - 11 - 2011

We were shopping at Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara when we met a friend who then recommended us to try Okuchi, a Japanese restaurant for dinner. Okuchi is just a short walk from Sunway Giza Mall and it is located strategically in the middle of Dataran Sunway.

VK, as usual ordered his Salmon Sashimi. This beautifully decorated sashimi was very fresh. I find the portion for this is a little bit too small. I guess good stuffs only comes in small portion. That way, we tend to treasure it more.

Our order, Soft Shell Crab Sushi comes next. In contrast to salmon sashimi, the soft shell crab isn’t soft at all. It was really crunchy in the middle.

We also ordered another version of the soft shell crab which was the Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Mayonaise. Like the earlier one, the soft shell crab was really good. Really crunchy.

meat.balls

Afraid that he might get hungry later, VK also ordered their meatballs. Personally, I find the texture of the meat balls a little bit too soft. It will be better if it was a bit more chewy. Sad to say, after a few bites, we got tired of it.

I had my supper at Jogoya Japanese Restaurant, Starhill many moons ago. I didn’t blog about this place because I wasn’t too pleased with my experience at Jogoya. Our night started with a long queue, so long that it almost felt as if we were waiting to get our ICs done. But no, we were queueing to pay before we were allowed to enter the restaurant. Yes, I know that we have to pay first before dining, but the problem here is that, they opened the payment counter exactly at the time the buffet is suppose to start. For your information, the supper session starts at 9.30pm and ends at 12.00pm. We queued for almost 40 minutes before we were allowed to enter the restaurant.

And after going through the payment, we were shocked to find that there are more queues in the restaurant itself. There were queues at every single counter.

Not wanting to waste anymore time, we dropped every single clips we had on our favourite food. Sashimis are available at the sashimi counter. Here you can find all sorts of sashimis, i.e. salmons, oysters, cods, butter fish, baby octopus, and etc…

sashimis

The sashimis were quite fresh. The only problem we have was that the queue for it was way too long. And to add to our frustration, we even had difficulties finding clean plates.

There are also cooked food, prepared by chefs. The situation here is better as each trays were quickly replenished to cater for their hungry customers.

Kin Shui Tei at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort

Posted by Apple Foodees On February - 24 - 2011

I have always wanted to try the Japanese food from Kin Shui Tei after hearing how good it is from VK. And finally, I got my chance to dine there last week. Located in the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, Kin Shui Tei is a classy Japanese restaurant run by a Japanese chef. Three of the most important item that I must have in any Japanese restaurant would be Teriyaki Unagi (eel), Chawanmushi (steamed egg) and Miso soup. So I ordered Kin Shui Tei’s Teriyaki Unagi Set.

Teriyaki-Unagi

I think this picture speaks for itself. Not only it looks vibrant, the Teriyaki Unagi tastes really nice. I polished it off in a few minutes.

This set also comes with another favourite of mine, Salmon, Butter Fish, Tuna Sashimi.
