Silver Spoon Trattoria at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On August - 10 - 2011

I’ve no idea why it took me so long to visit Silver Spoon Trattoria. Probably its because there were far too many food bloggers who had blogged for Silver Spoon. As most of them were being invited for reviews, this had made me skeptical whether or not to trust their reviews as being honestly written or not. To prevent myself from jumping to conclusion, I decided to try their set lunch first.

Each set comes with a starter, a main meal and dessert. Drinks were not included in the set meals. For starters we ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and the Crumbed Calamari. Look at these entrees, ain’t it beautiful? I’ve got to give the credit to the chef who made the entrees. They look stunning. Taste wise however was okay -nothing surprising.

The same goes with the Crumbed Calamari. Some other entrees that you may order are their Tomato Bruschetta and the soup of the day.

Crumbed Calamari

As for the main meal, I ordered the Fish (Dory Fillet) and Chips. The fish was fresh and it tastes really good. Enough seasoning and it was not oily at all. The only problem with this meal were the fries. I don’t normally waste my food, but the fries was so bad that I ended up throwing a quarter of it away.

Fish&Chips

The Hawaiian Pizza that VK ordered fare much better than my fish and chips. This 6-inch pizza is not only thin and crispy, but it was prepared with reasonable amount of toppings.

For dessert, I ordered their Banana Crepes. The crepes goes really well with the ice-cream as the crepes was a little bit bitter. I guest they added a little bit of alcohol in it, hence the bitter taste.

Tai Tao Steamboat Restaurant at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 30 - 2011

Tai Tao is another steamboat restaurant in Kepong and I dare to say that this is a favourite to many especially the locals. When we arrived at the restaurant at about 8pm all the tables were taken up. This is the only steamboat restaurant which I have seen to have customers waiting even though there were no free tables at all. Lucky us, we just had a wait short wait thanks to some considerate customers.

Steamboat.Ingredients

At Tai Tao Steamboat Restaurant, each person is charged at RM16.00 per person. Its default customised set comes with a decent portion of steamboat ingredients which consists of prawns, vegetables, fish, pigeon eggs, tauhu, and some processed foodstuffs, i.e. fishballs, meatballs and etc…

Mee

And just like any other steamboat restaurant, each set comes with mihun, noodles and eggs to complete your meal.

Janwa Thai Restaurant at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On April - 20 - 2011

We, Malaysians are so spoilt with choice when it comes to food. Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Balinese, you name it, and we got it here. Thanks to the growing population in Kepong, many delicious and well-known restaurants started opening their branches here. And to name a few; Petaling Streets’s Famous Hon Kee porridge, Pao Xiang String Tied Bak Kut Teh, Ho Ho Steamboat (Pulau Ketam) and etc…

Located in Bandar Menjalara, Kepong, I would say that this is a hidden gem in Kepong. For those who loves Thai food, you must try this restaurant.

Lala

Lala fried with Chili Paste, one of my favourite. Priced at RM12, this goes very well on its own. I absolutely love it.

4 Angle Beans

The 4-Angle Beans@ RM12 is a signature dish here. Best served with a bowl of steaming hot rice.
