Sinnaco, the Durian Specialist has been around for many years and I believe that it needs no introduction as to the durians it carries – premium and good quality durians. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to try their super premium export grade Musang King durians. If there is one thing I’m proud of as a Malaysian is the durians that grow in our country and this beauty is currently selling for RM 58 per kg at Sinnaco. It was bitter and sweet, creamy and fleshy. It has got very thin and small seeds. Absolutely amazing. Amazing, amazing, amazing… I’m not exaggerating, you’ve just got to try it.
We also had the chance to try their Thraka Durian. Thraka Durians are known to have really hard shells but as a durian expect, Sinnaco’s durian experts opened it like opening a coconut – so easy! 7 years of experience in opening durians does makes a different.
The Thraka durian is sweet. It has got a smooth and creamy texture – similar to Musang King. It was good but it was nothing compared to the earlier musang king.
Sinnaco also offers durian buffets at RM38 per pax, RM58 per pax, RM68 per pax and etc. Each category comes with different breeds of durians. As durians are seasonal fruits, you’ve got to come here to check out the durians and price – as I find it no point for me to publish the price here, if they are going to change it from time to time.
We had the opportunity to try their D24, D13, Mas Pahang, Sultan and Jantung as well. Each breed taste different from each other. Sultan, D13, Mas Pahang and Jantung have a hint of wine taste to them.
At first, it may taste odd but as you stuff more into your mouth, it just gets better. If you are looking for the sweeter version of durians, go for these. D24 is good as well.
If you wish to send durians as a gift, locally or overseas, you may use their vacuum pack service. See – “100% smelless for flight”.
Mangosteen @ RM9 per kg are available as well and these are local mangosteen. Recently we bought some Japanese mangosteen and it costs us RM15 per kg. My advice to you is to go for the local ones. The texture is much softer, juicier and most important of all, cheaper. No point paying so much and get hard and dry mangosteen.
One thing good about Sinnaco is that their place is air-conditioned! You can choose to either sit in the shop or outside the shop or under the tree opposite the shop. Stall no. 2 are also part of this durian specialist group.
