Patrick Teoh’s Damansara Village Steamboat Restaurant at SS23/10

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 10 - 2011

Last week, we took a ride to Damansara Village at Damansara Jaya for a steamboat dinner. This is a steamboat restaurant opened by an ex-radio deejay, Patrick Teoh. Damansara Village sources it’s seafood from Pulau Ketam so you can be sure that the seafood serve here are fresh.

Steamboat

There are many choices for you to choose from, from the number of ingredients sets they have on their menu. We opted for the ones with fresh crabs and live prawns. You can also order the more pricier sets which comes with fresh fish.

Crabs

Two types of crabs are served for our set. I do not know much about crabs, but I think both of it are salt-water crabs. It doesn’t contain much meat, but it is sufficient to make the soup tasty.

Live.Prawns

Our set also comes with live prawns. Yes, you read it correctly, live prawns. It was still “jumping and moving” when we struggled to take the best shots of it.

Clams

Clams. One thing that I fear the most here is that, when the clams are exposed to heat, it will open up, releasing the water stucked in the clams. And the worst part of it, is that we ended up drinking it as it mixed with the soup while cooking. I wonder, how do you cook clams while having a steamboat? For now, I chose to ignore it. If you know any good methods, I need your advice. lol…

Steamboat.Ingredients.2

Process fishballs, meatballs, wanton and pigeon eggs are some of the main ingredients for our steamboat.

Noodles, egg, muscles and ABALONE are also served here too. I didn’t know that these were slices of abalone before VK pointed it out to me.

Fried.Meat

They have other cooked foods as well; paper wrapped chicken, fried balls as well. So if you like to compliment your steamboat with something else, you may order these as well, just like we did.

Hi AppleFoodies. Thank you for your visit to Damansara Village@PJ. I am glad to note that you enjoyed your visit. Your reservations about clams in steamboat is actually quite a common and valid one. However, at Damansara Village as well as in other good restaurants that serve clams these are cleaned thoroughly before being put on the table. How is this done? We soak the clams in clean, fresh water for many hours. During this time the clams open up and whatever impurities inside are flushed out. I hope this will put your mind at ease about eating clams which are YUMMY!

I hope that you and your friends will also visit our KL outlet, Damansara Village@Imbi, 32, Jalan Utara, off Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur which also serves non-steamboat dishes like our unique Organic chicken, “Cho Kai”.

Thank you again and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

  2. Alright. Now I know how clams are cleaned before serving to customers for steamboat. Thanks for the info Mr. Patrick Teoh. :)
