“Go to Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurant and you can skip the rest”. This is what I hear many “Ipohreans” said to me whenever I said I want to go to Ipoh for dim sum.
There is a long battle for the best dim sum restaurant in Ipoh and along Jalan Leong Sin Nam, there are 3 big dim sum restaurants. Their dim sum must be good otherwise they wouldn’t have grown so big right?
We’ve been told that the best time to go to Ming Court Hong Kong dim sum restaurant is at 6.00am. That is the best time as you do not need to wait at all and all their dim sums are available for your choosing.
So, we took that advice and we were amazed with the number of people who actually turned up at 6.00am. People were already waiting in their cars even before Ming Court opens its restaurant. Nobody cared about the other 2 dim sum restaurants which were already opened at that time.
We were quickly assigned to our table and were then shown a variety of dim sum. By 6.05am, our table were already filled with dim sums. Food portion is slightly small but very flavourful. Service was very good thanks to the friendly aunties – who even allowed us to take pictures of her showing off the dim sums.
Overall, we were quite happy with Ming Court Hong Kong dim sum. We finished our breakfast at about 6.30am and when we left, the whole restaurant was already filled with people.
The dim sum here may seem cheaper than those in Kuala Lumpur, but if you compare the price and the portion, it is almost the same. KL dim sums are much larger in terms of its size and therefore pricier compared to Ipoh dim sum.
There are good and bad to this. If it is cheaper with smaller portions, then you’ll get to try different things for the same amount. But if the dim sum is very good, you’ll get very small portions of it.
