Hon Kee Famous Porridge in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur

Posted by Apple Foodees On February - 8 - 2011

Yes! Hon Kee Famous Porridge has opened a new branch in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. Another fine alternative for our morning breakfast. I had blog about this previously and find that now they claim that they have been in business since 1949 contrary to their banner in Petaling Street which writes to have been operating since 1959. 1949 or 1959 doesn’t really matter to me as their porridge do stands out from others.

Hon Kee is famous for their “Raw Fish” porridge. They provide fresh slices of fish allowing customers to mix it with the really hot porridge so as the fish is not overcooked.

The sweetness of the fish complemented with spring onions and ginger makes the porridge a delightful meal. Flavour enhancement products such as pepper and soya soya sauce are also provided.

There are many more items on Hon Kee’s menu to add to the porridge and we ordered their pork balls and “yau char guai” for a more complete meal.

Possibly because of the size of the bowl, I find that the portion is bigger in Kepong compared to the one in Petaling Street. Anyway, you can find below the details for their new branch.

  3. They are really good. Do try their original branch at Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. The atmosphere and the porridge there tastes so much better. Very nostalgic feel.
