Hon Kee Famous Porridge offers one of the best porridge that I’ve ever tasted. The self-claimed famous porridge hawker stall Hon Kee was set up in Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur since 1959 and one of their specialty here is their “Haruan Fish” porridge.
The “Haruan Fish” is normally called the “Sang Yu” in Chinese and it is normally used in porridge because of the sweetness of the flesh. If you order a bowl of “Sang Yu” porridge, slices of fresh raw fish flesh will be served with a large bowl of very hot porridge. Just cook the fish flesh using the heat from the hot porridge and stir all together until it is cooked. This way, the fish will not be overcook.
The Century Egg Porridge is quite normal and is normally found in any porridge stalls. There is nothing special here other than it tastes good.
To accompany your porridge, you order some long golden-brown deep-fried strip of dough called “yau char guai” in Chinese.
Hon Kee is located just right in front of Hong Leong Bank in Petaling Street. I’m sure it you are a regular visitor here, you may find no problem finding Hon Kee stall.
