There are many Bak Kut Teh restaurants around Kepong and Heng Bak Kut Teh is one of the best I have been to. Located at Taman Kepong Heng Bak Kut Teh has been around since 1963. Honestly, I have been staying here since 1980s and I really didn’t know that Heng BKT exists until VK brought me here one day. I guess they just moved to Kepong not too long ago.
Heng’s Bak Kut Teh favourite would be their “Sang Kuat Pou” priced at RM12.00. Sang Kuat Pou is a cooking style and in short, it basically means that the cook prepares your bak kut teh fresh from stratch upon order. This way, you can be assured that your bak kut teh is fresh unlike most bkt restaurants around which prepares their meat earlier. So if you are planning order this, remember to call them up and pre-order a bit earlier to avoid waiting for too long.
Stewed Bak Kut Teh, priced at RM12.00, is also one of my favourite dish here. The meat is so tender and the kuah goes really well with rice. Although the meat is a little bit fat, it was so delicious that we polished it off within minutes.
I love parsley and I know that many of you out there didn’t like the taste and the smell of parsley. But if you love it like I do, you will be happy to know that the parsley and red “keichis” compliments this dish really well.
Yau Char Guai @ RM2.00 is also available here. Tau foo pok @ RM1.00 and a bowl of bkt soup on the other hand are given upon any bkt order. There are no restrictions on the amount of soup you may order so feel free to refill your soup.
There are 3 types of rice served here, plain rice, yam rice and golden pumpkin rice. As we arrived quite late that day, they ran out of yam and golden pumpkin rice. So, my advice for you is to go a bit earlier during lunch time.
