Shumatsu Japanese Buffet Weekend Dinner at Eyuzu, Eastin Hotel, PJ

Posted by Apple Foodees On March - 6 - 2011

Currently Jogoya is having a promotion for their supper buffet, where for one paying customer, the other partner will get to eat for free. Weekdays only. That sounds like a good deal but there were so many bookings that we only manage to book for a table for the following week. So we ended up going to Eastin Hotel’s Eyuzu, Shumatsu Japanese Buffet Dinner instead.

Eyuzu is also having a promotion for their weekend Sunday buffet dinner, 4 person free 1 person. RM82.00++ (adult) and RM41.00++ (child) from 6.30pm to 10.00pm. The ambiance in Eyuzu is quite pleasant. Although the restaurant is full, at least, it is not too crowded. This is so much better than the other Japanese Restaurant in Mont Kiara, Tenji.

Salmon-Sashimi

The sashimis are really fresh. I love the salmon sashimi the most.

Fresh-Prawns

Don’t the prawns look good? If you love mashed potatoes, I do recommend you trying them. You can find the mashed potatoes at the salad station next to the sashimis. Their Shark fin soup is comparatively good.

As for their Teriyaki Unagi this dish is the bomb! If you are a unagi fan, I’m sure you will love it. You can find this at their mixed dishes station, located near Eyuzu’s main entrance.

Their tempura station are located behind their sashimi station. Tempuras are prepared upon order so although you need to wait for them to cook it, you can order any tempura ingredients of your choice. The best part of it is that they are prepared fresh!

Tempura

Next to their tempura section, is the teppanyaki section. Like their tempura section, all teppanyakis are also prepared fresh. You may order meat, seafood or vegetables of your choice here. Read the rest of this entry »

Ferringhi Garden at Batu Ferringhi, Penang

Posted by Apple Foodees On March - 4 - 2011

Last month, VK and I went to Batu Ferringhi, Penang before the Chinese New Year. As usual we searched the internet before embarking on our journey to search for good food. After looking through a couple of blogs, we came across Feringgi Garden.

It is not very easy to locate this restaurant from the main road as their restaurant signboard is a bit hidden. We knew that Ferringhi Garden is located after The Ship restaurant, but still, we had to made a few rounds before finding it. Not knowing that they provide free carparks behind their restaurant, we ended up parking outside and had to pay some parking fees. So if you are coming to Ferringhi Garden, do not make the same mistakes as us. Before heading over to talk about what we had, I have to apologise that I do not have many pictures. I had forgotten to charge my batteries. Haha!

Fish

I ordered their Fish Set and if I am not mistaken, the fish served here is Red Snapper. We also ordered their fruit juice, and I got to say that it doesn’t come cheap. RM10 for a glass of freshly pressed juice.

Fish Set

For your information, Ferringhi Garden had recently just won the cleanest and most pleasant restaurant in Penang. They are open from 2.00pm to 12.00am everyday.

Las Vacas Steak Shop at SS5, Kelana Jaya (Halal)

Posted by Apple Foodees On March - 2 - 2011

Not many of us Malaysian actually knows the trick in enjoying the best of steaks. I didn’t know it until VK brought me to Maria’s Cafe at Damansara Perdana. Since then, we began to search around for better steak house, but unfortunately, until today, we have not found any better steak houses around Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. Las Vacas at SS5, Kelana Jaya is one of the steak house that we found in our search.

VK ordered their Ribeye Angus which is priced at RM28/100gm. The owner will recommend you the portion depending on how you want your meat to be done. You can also choose it directly from the counter. Then they will weight and send it to the kitchen to prepare your steak.

I on the other hand, chose Las Vacas’ Ribeye Grain Fed priced at RM23/100gm. The owner recommended me to get 200gm as they have difficulty preparing it medium-rare for meat that weights less than 200gm. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to finish it, I took the chance and got myself only a three-quarter of that portion.

Lucky for me, it was good. But to compare mine with VK’s, his steak is much better. Read the rest of this entry »

Madam Lim’s Kitchen Restaurant @ Tesco Kepong Village Mall

Posted by Apple Foodees On February - 28 - 2011

I’ve been eating around many Chinese restaurants in shopping malls. So many of them offers really good dining experience, however to find one that is not too pricey proof to be a difficult task. Madam Lim’s Kitchen Restaurant is my latest find for Chinese food. Located in Tesco Kepong, this restaurant offers both cheap and delicious Chinese meals.

The first thing on their menu that caught our eyes is their Sambal Prawns, recommended by the chef. Fresh water prawns were used to cook this dish. This sambal prawns are priced at RM7.90.

Sambal-Prawns

The Kang Kong Belacan priced at RM6.00 on the other hand was a little bit mild. Not spicy as I expected it to be. Looking at the colours of the leaves, I think that this dish is a little bit over-cooked. Read the rest of this entry »

Kin Shui Tei at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort

Posted by Apple Foodees On February - 24 - 2011

I have always wanted to try the Japanese food from Kin Shui Tei after hearing how good it is from VK. And finally, I got my chance to dine there last week. Located in the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, Kin Shui Tei is a classy Japanese restaurant run by a Japanese chef. Three of the most important item that I must have in any Japanese restaurant would be Teriyaki Unagi (eel), Chawanmushi (steamed egg) and Miso soup. So I ordered Kin Shui Tei’s Teriyaki Unagi Set.

Teriyaki-Unagi

I think this picture speaks for itself. Not only it looks vibrant, the Teriyaki Unagi tastes really nice. I polished it off in a few minutes.

This set also comes with another favourite of mine, Salmon, Butter Fish, Tuna Sashimi.

Sun Hing Loong – Penang Char Kway Teow in SS2 Petaling Jaya

Posted by Apple Foodees On February - 22 - 2011

It is very well known in Malaysia that Penang is the best place to go for the best true taste of Penang styled Char Kway Teow. In my humble opinion, nothing in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya seems to be on par with the high standards set by the many cooks in Penang. So, if you are staying in the Klang Valley and would like a plate without travelling up north, I would recommend you to try the Penang-styled Char Kway Teow in SS2, Sun Hing Loong’s Restaurant.

Sun-Hing-Loong

A plate of Char Kway Teow here is only RM4.50 and if you desire additional prawns, you could do so with an extra charge of Rm2.00. A regular plate comes with 5 large prawns. The price here is quite reasonable considering the price of a plate in “some” places in Penang Island is almost double of this. Frequenters should know where I am talking about.
