I have been receiving smses from Nagomi Shabu-Shabu Japanese Restaurant recently regarding their buffet promotion. For only RM32.80++ an adult and RM18.80 for children age between 5 – 12 years old), each customers are given a pot of their very own soup (no sharing) and over 80 choices of shabu-shabu ingredients, sushis, sashimis and desserts.

The main highlight for Nagomi’s buffet is their unlimited salmon sashimis which are only available from 8.00pm to 9.00pm everyday. Since we are a big fan of salmon sashimis and trusting that Nagomi serves good salmon sashimi, we are overjoyed with the offer. Even though the salmon wasn’t as good as we though it would be, but we didn’t mind it as the the shabu-shabu itself was very good.

In order to make your soup tasty, just place all the seafood ingredients you can find along with some chinese cabbage, carrots and leeks just like I did. After a few minutes, your soup will turn from bland and tasteless soup to one of the most delicious soup you ever tasted. Nagomi does give really good base soup.

Nagomi serves really fresh seafood ingredients and this is evident just by looking at the pictures of these fresh prawns. Some of the other seafood they have here are red snappers, bamboo clams, clams and slipper lobsters.

Lucky Dessert at Sunway Giza, Kota Damansara

Posted by Apple Foodees On August - 31 - 2011

I will be going to Hong Kong during the Raya holidays. Desserts are very popular in Hong Kong and Lucky Dessert is one of the dessert house that we had planned to visit. After knowing that Lucky Dessert had a branch in Sunway Giza Mall, we decided to make our way to Kota Damansara to try them out first. Lucky Dessert is currently having promotion meals priced at RM16.80 for 2 pax or RM8.90 for 1 person.

As we wanted to try more, we ordered our desserts ala carte. We ordered the Banana Krisp priced at RM12.00. It was crispy on the outside but soft inside. I expected this dessert to be sweet but it wasn’t. So if you like it sweeter, you may sweeted it up with the aising sugar which were carefully sprinkled on the plate so if you like it sweeter. I find this dessert pretty as it has some “snowy effect”.

Mango Roll has two small slices priced at RM6.00. Quite expensive if you ask me.

Trinity Durian Delight priced at RM10.00 is one of my favourite. This dessert is nice to be taken on a hot day. It is sweet but slightly bitter due to the bitterish taste from the durian and it is best taken cold. I would recommend you this if you are a durian lover.

Durian Wrapz was slightly bitter too. If it was sweeter, I would have like it better. I find it too bitter for it to be a dessert. Desserts are suppose to be sweet, right?

Snowflake Taiwan Dessert at Kota Damansara

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 27 - 2011

Traveling to Kota Damansara is a nightmare. But knowing that Snowflake Taiwan Dessert had opened at Kota Damansara just recently, we decided to make our way there. When we arrived at about 9pm, the place was packed with people. All the tables were taken and the queues were long. Noticing this, we told ourselves that this could be a good find afterall.

Snowflake.Bestseller

So we ordered their Snowflake Bestseller at RM6.90. It is made up of three layers; grass jelly ice, grass jelly and taroballs as the topping. It was alright compared to what I’ve ordered, Sea Amber Jelly.

Sea.Amber.Jelly

The Sea Amber Jelly at RM6.90 was quite disappointing. Although it was quite refreshing, but they added too much ice – a “sea” of ices. I ended up drinking sugar water at the end.

ToHua

Tohua here (price range from RM5 to RM6.50) was quite ordinary, not really smooth as I expected it to be.

Pao Xiang String Tied Meat Bak Kut Teh at Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On April - 17 - 2011

If you are in love with Bak Kut Teh, I would recommend you Pao Xiang, a franchise bak kut teh restaurant. One thing I like about Pao Xiang’s bak kut teh is the way they serve their bak kut teh. Here, each order comes in a bowl, therefore customers do not need to share their bah kut teh. This is so much cleaner and very much different from the tradisional bah kut teh served in claypots. I would recommend you their “Small Bone” aka Siu Kut Bak Kut Teh priced at Rm9.50.

Tua-Kut

If you prefer double the amount, you can also try their “Big Bones” aka Tua Kut also priced at RM9.50. But I got to warn you, the Tua Kut portion contains more meat and thus more fats. So if you do not want to feed yourself with too much of saturated fats, try their Siu Kut instead. In case you were wondering why there are lines along the the skin, the meats were tied while cooking. This is to lock the flavours in the meat, hence the lines are visible on its skin.
