I have been going around trying Wanton Mee recently. I’ve tried the ones in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and even Bentong, Pahang just recently. And I can say that none of them are better than the one I had in Rawang.

When I was younger, I used to have my wanton mee fix at this particular stall in Rawang which I fancy really much. My only regret is that there are no longer there as that area is now replaced with some new housing projects and I don’t know Where the stall had shifted to . Anyway, we wanted to try Hooi Kee’s Wanton Mee at Yuen Kee kopitiam, but unfortunately, the had already sold out. We reached Bentong around 10.30am and even by then, they had nothing left. Not knowing where else to go, we went to a nearby shop selling wanton mee.

The wanton noodle here comes in either the dry version or the soup version.

What do you do when you have an extra one day public holiday extending your normal weekends break? I’m sure many of you choose to go shopping or spend more time at home to catch-up on those lost sleep. Wanting to do something different, we took a one-day trip to Seremban.

Seremban has the best Siu Bao without doubt. Not only that, Seremban is also famous for their seafood. Before heading to Seremban, we made some research and through that research, we landed up at Seremban Seafood Village.

Seremban Seafood Village is very well-knowned for their crabs. Just look at the crab pinches, don’t they look huge and appetizing?

As there are the two of us only, we ordered the Grilled Crabs. Unlike the ones we had in Jinjang which has a strong buttery taste, Seremban Seafood Village ones are more oily and salty. The crabs were very fresh and meaty. A bowl of “orange” coloured sauce was provided to compliment the Grilled Crabs. In my honest opinion, this sauce doesn’t go very well with the crabs, as the crabs were good enough on its own. Other common favourites here are their Salted Egg Crabs and Chili Crabs.

Next, I strongly recommend you their Dried Chili Mantis Prawn (Kung Pou) as it is not only delicious, it is very affordable. This portion is only RM10.00. So much difference in pricing compared to the Grilled Crab earlier which costs us RM70.00.

The Clams fried with dried chili and shrimp rice or we normally called Kam Heong Lala is also RM10.00. The lalas were very fragrant, a trully nice dish. It has enough kick of spicyness and “wok hei”.

Previously, almost everyday I find myself asking “What am I going to have for lunch today?”. As there are not many choices around my office area, I have now opted to have cereals for my lunch. Yes, very pathetic right. That’s the reason why I will not hesitate to travel further during the weekends for good food.

This time around, we went to Hai Lam Chicken Rice Shop at Jalan Nyonya, Pudu, Kuala Lumpur to find the famous roast pork that many locals had bragged and talked about. Some even claimed that they serves the best roast pork and that their roast pork is so good that they runs out fast.

Hai Lam’s Roast Pork is delicious but not as good as I expected it to be. If the skin is much crunchier, I would have enjoyed it better. Compared to Onn Kee at Jalan Kepong, I find the latter fares better than the former in terms of it’s taste and the texture of the meat.

Hai Lam’s Roasted Chicken on the other hand is much better than their roasted pork. It was so yummy that we polished it off within minutes. I suppose, there is a reason why they named themselves Hai Lam Chicken Rice and not Hai Lam Roasted Pork.

So, if you are unsure which is better, order them both and judge them for yourself. Note that, the roast pork doesn’t comes cheap. A strip of pork costs about RM14.00 and they only start selling the roast pork from 12.30pm until finish.

My advice, if you didn’t manage to try thei roast pork, don’t worry. Their roast chicken is very good as well.

Klang is one of the more popular place to go for seafood. I am not very familiar with Klang especially when we are talking about seafood. The only thing nice that I know that is worth visiting Klang is their Bak Kut Teh. We wanted to try Klang’s seafood for the longest time and this time, we followed some friend’s recommendation to Kebun Kelapa Seafood Restaurant hoping to taste one of the nice seafood restaurant in Klang.

We ordered their Chili Crabs, one of the must-order dish here. This finger-licking good chili crab was sweet and spicy at the same time. A truly enjoyable dish for those who like crabs.

Wanting to try other cooking styles for crabs, we also ordered their Salted Egg Crabs. I didn’t like this style as the sweetness and freshness of the crabs meat were over-powered by the strong salted egg taste. After trying many cooking styles for crabs, I find that the best way to cook crabs is to bake them with salt and pepper. You may disagree with me, but in my personal opinion, this way, the sweetness of the crab meat can be fully preserved.

The Fried Oyster Egg was quite okay only. The oysters were really tiny. Most of us didn’t enjoy this dish.
