Tai Tao Steamboat Restaurant at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 30 - 2011

Tai Tao is another steamboat restaurant in Kepong and I dare to say that this is a favourite to many especially the locals. When we arrived at the restaurant at about 8pm all the tables were taken up. This is the only steamboat restaurant which I have seen to have customers waiting even though there were no free tables at all. Lucky us, we just had a wait short wait thanks to some considerate customers.

Steamboat.Ingredients

At Tai Tao Steamboat Restaurant, each person is charged at RM16.00 per person. Its default customised set comes with a decent portion of steamboat ingredients which consists of prawns, vegetables, fish, pigeon eggs, tauhu, and some processed foodstuffs, i.e. fishballs, meatballs and etc…

Mee

And just like any other steamboat restaurant, each set comes with mihun, noodles and eggs to complete your meal.

Snowflake Taiwan Dessert at Kota Damansara

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 27 - 2011

Traveling to Kota Damansara is a nightmare. But knowing that Snowflake Taiwan Dessert had opened at Kota Damansara just recently, we decided to make our way there. When we arrived at about 9pm, the place was packed with people. All the tables were taken and the queues were long. Noticing this, we told ourselves that this could be a good find afterall.

Snowflake.Bestseller

So we ordered their Snowflake Bestseller at RM6.90. It is made up of three layers; grass jelly ice, grass jelly and taroballs as the topping. It was alright compared to what I’ve ordered, Sea Amber Jelly.

Sea.Amber.Jelly

The Sea Amber Jelly at RM6.90 was quite disappointing. Although it was quite refreshing, but they added too much ice – a “sea” of ices. I ended up drinking sugar water at the end.

ToHua

Tohua here (price range from RM5 to RM6.50) was quite ordinary, not really smooth as I expected it to be.

Edo Ichi Japanese Restaurant at Solaris Dutamas

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 24 - 2011

I know many of you out there are quite skeptical in having Japanese food now since the tragedy in Japan. You don’t need to worry about that as from what I heard, many of the Japanese restaurants in Malaysia now imports their ingredients elsewhere. For instance, Edo Ichi, the only Japanese restaurant in Solaris Dutamas imports their ingredient from other countries, i.e. Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, USA and etc…

Unagi.Set

Endo Ichi is a pork free Japanese restaurant and they are currently having a lunch promotion. I ordered their Unagi Kabayaki Set, priced at RM32.00. The portion is quite small if I were to compare it with other Japanese restaurants around KL. I know I will enjoy this better if Endo Ichi is more generous with the sauce for the unagi. Nevertheless, it was alright for me overall.

Unagi.Cheese Roll

The Unagi Cheese Roll priced at RM28.00 is one of the specialty here. The roll are made up with the combination of crabsticks, cucumber and egg, carefully rolled with seaweed and rice, topped with a “tiny” slice of unagi and cheese.

Meatworks Dining and Retail Butchery Shop at Solaris Mont Kiara

Posted by Apple Foodees On May - 20 - 2011

MeatWorks is a halal fresh dining restaurant and retail butchery shop. At Meatworks, you are given more control to choose the type of meat, the size and the way you want it done just like how you would do when you do your home cooking. It saves you the hassle of having to go through the process of cooking.

Meatworks.BYO.Burger

I had Meatworks’ B.Y.O. Burger priced at RM26. The first few bites were okay, but it gets really boring towards the end. The burger patty was a little bit too dry to my likings.

Steak.Bone.in.Fillet

Meatworks’ Steak Bone in Fillet priced at RM69 on the other hand was much better than what I had. But unfortunately, our order wasn’t prepared the way we wanted it. VK ordered it “medium-rare” and he got a “medium-cooked” meat.
