Korean Restaurant – Hong Park Sa at Jalan Sulaiman 3, Ampang

Posted by Apple Foodees On January - 12 - 2011

Korean cuisine are becoming popular in Malaysia. In Kuala Lumpur, you will find many Korean restaurants in Sri Hartamas. Meanwhile, in Selangor, a great number of Korean restaurant are located in Ampang. It is very common to find barbeque dishes in Korean cuisines. Customers may order a variety of ingredients to barbeque, such as chicken fillets, pork and beef.

Each serving of meat comes with onions, mushrooms and potatoes. So while barbecuing your meat, remember to barbeque the rest with the meat. If you prefer the chef to cook it for you, feel free to do so. In fact, let them cook it for you as they are more experienced.

The meat has not been marinated earlier, therefore sauces and some salt and pepper are needed to enhance the taste.

Whilst, the Korean barbeque are very popular among the locals here, but do you know that barbeque are not the only thing that have in the Korean cuisine? In fact, Hong Park Sa is famous for it’s Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup). Samgyetang is tradisionally served in the summer. As this Korean soup is packed with healthy nutrients, Koreans usually have it during the hot summers in Korea. The special thing about this soup is that, a whole young chicken is stuffed with glutinous rice and boiled in a broth of Korean ginseng, dried dates, garlic, ginger and other herbs. To enjoy this dish better, the chicken should be broken up to release the glutinous rice into the soup.

G Tower Hotel, Bridge Bar at Jalan Tun Razak

Posted by Apple Foodees On January - 6 - 2011

Thanks to GTower management and VK, for the great experience I had at G City Club Hotel last year. Strategically located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, this hotel is the first Green Building in Malaysia. Hotel guests will receive complimentary vouchers for each night stayed to have welcome drink and tapas at the Bridge Bar.

Don’t ask me what this is but it sure does look pretty albeit very tasteless. The garlic bread on the other hand was very crunchy and the portion served was huge.

As for drinks, each guests may order either beer, red or white wine from the Bridge bar.

My first impression on the Bridge Bar is that, it somewhat resembles the smaller version of our twin tower, KLCC. The bridge is built with huge glasses allowing guests to enjoy the city skyline at a different part of Kuala Lumpur.

Wan Seafood & Tomyam Sara Thai Kitchen in Kuantan

Posted by Apple Foodees On January - 4 - 2011

I have to admit that I never ever thought of visiting Kuantan at all. To me, Kuantan is just a stop to get to Cherating, Tasik Kenyir, and other attraction on the northen east of Peninsula Malaysia. This year, we decided to visit the popular place to watch the sunrise, Bukit Panorama, located close to Sungai Lembing in Kuantan.

Well, it didn’t went well that day as it was the monsoon season, and we ended up cancelling our hike up the hill as Sg. Lembing was overflowing. It flooded part of the town. For those who do not know, Sg Lembing is located 40km away from Kuantan town. So if the news reports that Kuantan is flooded, it could be only Sg Lembing is flooded and not Kuantan town itself.

Well, lets get back to our food review. This time, we had the opportunity to dine in one of the best Thai food restaurant in Kuantan, the Wan Seafood & Tomyam Sara Thai Kitchen.

As access to a very good fresh stock of seafood is easily available in Kuantan, it is a norm for tourists to hunt for seafood here. Well, what other better ways to enjoy seafood other than to enjoy it in a Thai restaurant. The food here is considerably cheap. A lot cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur! Not only the food is very affordable, it is delicious. Curry Squid @ RM6.
