Shihlin Night Market: Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodles Since 1975

Posted by Apple Foodees On September - 25 - 2009

Shihlin’s Night Market is one of the most famous night market located in Shihlin, Taipei. Oyster Noodles or Ay Chung Flour Rice Noodles is a must try street food if you ever come to Shihlin. The noodles are actually the soft mee aka “Mee Suah”.

Ay-Chung Noodles

Opened since 1975, Ay Chung offers only one and only one type menu which is the Oyster Noodle. Hence the worker’s job is simple. Customers will order their noodles, collect and pay them at the kitchen area. If you like your noodles a lot tastier, there is a sauce section just beside the seating area.

In Shihlin, there is a dining area for customers as oppose to that in Xi Men Ting. Almost everyone bought the bigger bowl, but we ordered the small bowl.

A small bowl costs us NT$40 which comes up to about RM4. Do be extra careful while having it as the noodles is very hot. Yeah, hot and not warm as it is still boiling when they scooped it into the bowl.

It is quite difficult to miss this place and it was quite an easy-find for us. Just look out for the Ay-Chung signboard in Shihlin Night Market.
