Serai Thai Restaurant at Jalan Sena, Shah Alam

Posted by Apple Foodees On September - 2 - 2009

If you are looking for a place to “berbuka puasa” or a decent place to dine, here’s the place to be - Serai Thai Restaurant. A Thai food restaurant which is located in Seksyen 3, Shah Alam.

Each customers were served with titbits and dates while waiting for their orders to be prepared. Although the dates are not “photogenic” but they are sweet.

Then came my all-time favourite vegetable, brinjals or eggplants fried with belacan. I just love this dish. Not only because I am a huge fan of brinjals, but its the Serai Thai’s belacan that makes the difference. It is priced at RM10.

Tom Yam Seafood. Just like the restaurant’s name, the chef uses a lot of serai. Prawns were cut into half in the middle to remove the dirt. It was easy to eat the prawns as you would have no trouble getting the meat out from the shell. Some of the other seafood included were squids and fish. The tom yam seafood were priced at RM14 for a small portion.

Buttered Tiger Prawns. Buttery, sweet and crispy is how I would describe this dish. The Tiger Prawns were priced according to the daily market price. Ours cost us RM30 for 7 prawns. Quite pricey but nevertheless, it was worth it.

Pineapple Fried Rice. Serai Thai didn’t fail to impress us with their pineapple fried rice. Not only it was “good looking” , it was extremely pleasing to the sense of taste. Absolutely love it. Price for the pineapple rice was RM9.

Serai Thai has their own special drink which is made from serai and mint. Nope, we did not order that drink, but instead we tried their Thai Ice Tea and Barley Lime. The Thai Ice Tea was layered to look like the Sarawak 3-layered tea “teh-si-peng”. Barley Lime = RM4 whereas for the Serai Thai Ice Tea = RM7.

Chocolate Banana Parfait. If you love desserts, I would recommend you this. Vanilla and chocolate ice creams, chocolate chips, corn flakes and whipped creams are some of the ingredients they have in this lovely dessert. Chocolate Banana Parfait was priced at RM9.
