Ramadhan Buffet 2009 at JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur

Posted by Apple Foodees On August - 26 - 2009

After fasting the whole day, I am sure many of you out there will be looking for a place to break fast. This year, JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur offers their Ramadhan Buffet 2009 with 108 different tradisional foods from Malaysia. It is only RM54++ per person. Well, after scouting around, JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur offers the cheapest Ramadhan Buffet I could find as compared to the other hotel buffets in Kuala Lumpur.

The first thing that caught our attention was their roasted lamb. The chef slices piece by piece while it was still being barbequed.

The meat was a little bit tough though but it was good overall.

Barbeque Lamb Meat

Another chef distributing the meat to their guests. One important thing to note here is that, you must be quick to get your portion as it finishes quite fast.

Another thing not to be missed here is their satay. They have a selection of either chicken meat or beef. The best time to take their satays are when they are freshly barbequed.

You will have no problem finding Grilled Fish or also known as “Ikan Bakar” in Malay. Kampung fishes and stingray (or ikan pari) are one of their many choices they have.

Ikan Bakar Selections

I was actually expecting Lalas, Prawns or Sotong to be one of their selections here, but no, they do not have it here.

Kampung Fish

A Ramadhan Buffet would not be complete with there are no Rendang or Curries.

Rendang and Curries

Nope, these are not the only rendang and curries they served. They have lots more. Chicken, fishes, prawns, lambs, beef, you name it and they have it here.

Chicken rendang

Rendang chicken, lamb curry, prawns and vegetables carefully position on a plate of Briyani Rice.

More pictures of the curries and rendangs we had. The best curry would be the lamb curry. It is best taken with the briyani rice.

Ayam Masak Merah

Nasi Dagang and Tandoori Chicken.

Another not thing not to be missed here are their soups. They have Sup Ekor, Lamb Soup, Chicken Soup and etc. I personally like the lamb soup. Chunks and chunks of lamb meat were used to boil the soup. The soup was thick and it was excellent albeit it was a little bit too oily.

Roti Canai and Roti Jala was a little bit disappointing. Not that it was not good, but I felt the Dal was too sour for my liking.

If you are on time, you will be able to witness the chef dressed in a tradisional malay costume preparing or “tariking” the tradisional milk tea or also known as Teh Tarik in Malay. If the chef is not there, just ring the bell and he will be there to prepare a cup for you.

Teh Tarik

Assorted selections of salads.

Some of their many desserts were served in little glasses. These are the Sago with Coconut Milk and Cincau Jelly with fruits.

Nothing special about their cakes though. It was normal, nothing spectacular about it.

And fruits to end your meal.

Overall, we were quite satisfied with the food here. Most of the foods were served warm. If you are looking forward to “buka puasa” here, do try out their curries and rendangs. The buffet restaurant can be found on the 6th Floor of the JW Mariott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Do expect tight securities due to the recent bombing in Indonesia.

Wow, nice picture! This is really cheap for RM50++ buffet. Nowadays, the cost of living is getting higher so has the buffet prices too. Guess this is a great offer since its cheap and delicious.
